Acrylic pillow case beads and some neatly made wire spirals can give you a pretty pair of beaded spiral earrings. Here we see how to make the spirals out of wire and the steps for connecting them to make the earrings.
Materials Needed:
Tools needed:
- Round Nose Pliers
- Flat Nose Pliers
- Wire Cutter
How to make spiral earrings:
Step 1:
Slide the pillow case bead and a metal spacer bead on an eye pin. Choose an eye pin of suitable length so you would have enough wire left to make a loop after sliding the beads.
Step 2:
Using round nose pliers bend the wire forming a loop.
Step 3:
Now for the spiral, start by taking a piece of the silver wire – cut the wire of suitable length using wire cutters. Make a loop using round nose pliers.
Step 4:
Hold the loop as shown using flat nose pliers with one hand and with your free hand start winding/rotating the wire around the loop.
Step 5:
Keep rotating till you have enough wire left to make a loop at the end.
Step 6:
Using round nose pliers make a loop with the remaining part of the wire.
Here is the spiral completed…
Step 7:
The crystal piece and the spiral are connected. Open and close the loops using flat nose pliers.
Step 8:
Now insert the fish hook ear wire at the top.
Step 9:
Repeat steps 1 to 8 to make the other earring piece. Here is the completed pair of earrings…
Hi Ramya, your site is lovely, very informative…
Could you pls tell me where you buy your beads as well as the beading wires, I have purchased a few at itsy bitsy Bangalore, but have never seen this much variety in their beads collection, also, failed to find beading wires suitable for your kind of projects (like the one you used to make the spiral in this one)’, they were either too thin or something like the memory wire. Kindly help.
Thanks,
Mallika
You’re right Mallika… good quality beads and wires are hard to find. Some wholesale shops carry them, but I prefer etsy.com for my beads shopping..
Hi Ramya, thanks so much for the reply. I was hoping you would tell me some place in Bangalore ;-). I haven’t tried the wholesale places yet , maybe I will very soon coz I can’t wait to try the patterns in your tutorial !
I have even gone to the extent of looking for the beading wires in electrical shops ! But they have only copper wires…
Will keep hunting anyway…
Thanks again Ramya,
Mallika
