This is a simple craft which can be done for Lord Ganesh marking the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. This work would take about 30 minutes of your time and can be customized in different colors and designs as per your choice.
This Ganesh idol has been in the family for generations and is my favorite; so he got this new umbrella.
Start by drawing the base circle on a piece of chart paper (or construction paper). This circle will be the size of the umbrella.
Cut out along the outline.
Paste a color paper of chosen color on this circle base.
Now cut a broad strip of construction paper and glue it along the outline of the circle. Use a strong adhesive for this step.
Here is the piece after it has been glued.
We now start adding embellishments. First is a strip of zari along the side.
Small circle shaped mirrors and a large kundan stone (or rhinestones) have been set in the center.
Teardrop shaped stones set around.
I have then used glitter glue at the center and small rhinestones at the tip of each teardrop.
A string of pearls glued along the outline.
Sparkle glue has been used for a more complete look.
Beaded lace has been glued as shown.
Here is the umbrella embellished.
A straw has been used as the handle for the umbrella – It has been glued on using cellophane tape.
