Quilling earrings can be made in various designs and present lot of possible design options. But since hoops are my favorite, this time I am going again with quilled hoop earrings – the difference being that crimped quilling strips are used for this pattern.
How to make Crimped Hoop Earrings:
I recently bought this crimper tool (from Itsy Bitsy) and had to use it… I am sure this tool will henceforth be used in a lot of my cards and other quilling attempts, but here is my first.
The crimper tool has a solid plastic body and is real simple to use. Insert a quilling strip between the two wheels and rotate using the plastic handle.
As you rotate, the paper strip comes out crimped.
Now to make the hoop, first a black paper strip is tightly quilled like a ring.
The crimped paper strip is glued around this ring.
Here is the ring after the crimped strip is quilled.
With the similar steps, make a smaller ring.
Shape this ring a little like a tear drop.
Join the pieces of two sizes together as shown.
A small loop is quilled and attached at the top.
Jump ring and earring hook is inserted.
The above steps are repeated for the other earring. Here is the completed quilling earrings pair.
You are going to see this technique in many more cards, brooches and other paper jewelry in the days to come.
