Hydrangeas, the small and pretty flowers are one of my favorites. I made a little bouquet of pink hydrangeas to give my mom this mother’s day. And the cherry on top is that I get to use my favorite material – felt. I saw a beautiful bouquet of clay hydrangea flowers made for a wedding which inspired me to make these felt hydrangea flowers.
Glimpse of the Hydrangeas:
How To make Hydrangeas using Felt:
And as always, here is the tutorial on how you could make these felt flowers in a few quick steps.
Draw the outline and cut out the four petal hydrangea shape from a piece of felt cloth. I drew an outline using pencil and then cut it out. You ca also use a template for this.
Make a small hole at the center using a needle.
A plastic stamen bead is attached to a metal string using floral tape. Alternatively yellow felt can be rolled and used. I had these with me and decided to take the easy route. The stem with the stamen is now available.
Insert the stem in the hole we made in step 2.
Now use some floral tape at the top so that the flower and the stem are secured together well.
Repeat steps 1 to 4 and make a few more flowers for the bouquet.
Attach leaves to a few of the flowers using floral tape and glue. You can cut out felt leaves or use leaves readily available.
Arrange all the flowers and you have an elegant bouquet.
I now want to make a larger bouquet with many purple felt hydrangeas… These flowers could sure come in handy for a wedding bouquet.
You know what the best part was? It took me hardly 30 minutes to make a bouquet of 20 flowers!
