Making earrings is interesting and more so when using polymer clay to make these earrings due to the flexibility that it provides. We shall make a few earrings in different designs with a single rhinestone studded in each one of them.
Glimpse of one of the designs:
For this you will need:
- Polymer Clay (M Seal can be a good alternative)
- Acrylic metallic colors
- Rhinestones
- Earring hook
How To:
Step 1:
Take a piece of polymer clay and roll it till it is smooth.
Step 2:
Take two balls of clay of equal proportion, flatten them and shape it as desired. You can use tooth picks, pen caps, needle, ruler, knife or anything that you can get your hands on to shape the clay.
Step 3:
Take a rhinestone and place it on the model made. Press such that it has a mild studded effect on the clay.
Step 4:
Add any other design that you feel would suit your desired earring.
Step 5:
Attach the earring hook at the top by inserting it in the clay.
Step 6:
Allow the model so far made to air dry for an hour. The clay will dry and harden well.
Step 7:
Using metallic or pearl acrylic colors, paint the earring. Allow the paint to dry.
Step 8:
Add any other metallic color to give it a blended ethnic effect. Allow the paint to dry.
Step 9:
Apply a coat of clear varnish. Allow the varnish to dry for a few hours.
