Hibiscus or shoe flowers can be made using crepe or duplex paper. Here is the DIY Tutorial for these natural looking crepe hibiscus flowers.
Glimpse of the Hibiscus Flower:
- Crepe Paper (or Duplex paper)
- Floral tape
- Plastic stamen
- Metal String
- Sewing thread
We will start by making the stem and stamen for the flower. Take a set of plastic stamen and secure them together using a metal string.
Lift the plastics stamen upward and wrap yellow crepe paper starting from the stamen till an inch on the metal string.
For the petals, make a petal template as shown using construction paper.
Flip the crepe paper and draw the outline of the petal.
Cut out the shape. For each petal, you will need two equal sized pieces.
Flip a piece and apply some white adhesive at the back. Place a piece of metal string at the center.
Now take another petal shaped piece of crepe paper and paste it on this with the lighter side facing you.
Make five such petals for each flower.
Make a few curvy cuts in each petal.
Individually shape each petal slowly and neatly using your hands. This method of using two pieces and sticking them works well for hibiscus as the petals are quite thick for this flower and this thickness helps to hold the crease.
Bend the petal outward.
Now attach each petal one by one to the stamen by tying them around using sewing thread.
Attach all the five petals. So now we’re done with the flower.
Wrap floral tape around the metal string.
Use green crepe paper for the sepals too.
Using the similar technique of cut and paste used for petals, make the leaves.
Attach the set of leaves to the leaf stem.
And a realistic hibiscus flower is now done.
You can make these flowers in different colors and sizes to decorate your living room…
