A quick tutorial where we would be experimenting with a combination of pot painting and the traditional Warli paintings.
Glimpse of the Result:
Take a mud pot or a mutka and clean its surface.
Apply a coat of dark brown or the base shade that you plan to give your pot. A couple of thin coats using acrylic colors should do.
Now apply a thin coat of a metallic color of your choice. This step is optional; I feel that a little shine never hurts.
The inside of the pot isn’t much of a botheration now.
Start painting Warli designs using a thin brush. I used toothpicks here and there to draw thin lines as well.
This is a snapshot at the initial stage.
Here is the completed design.
Allow the paint to dry.
Apply a coat of clear varnish and allow the varnish to air dry.
Go ahead and experiment with designs depending on the size of your pot.
We now have to make some nice tissue or crepe paper flowers to arrange in these pots… The tutorials for those will follow soon!
