A used tin or can would make an antique type pen and pencil holder for your desk.
Glimpse of the Result:
For this you will need:
- A tin/can of the desired size
- Sheet of paper
- Self hardening Clay (or M Seal)
- Acrylic Colors
- Clear Varnish
Take a used tin or can as the base for the pen stand.
You can scrap off any paper or imperfections in the tin before you start if needed.
Cut out a sheet of paper in the desired length and roll it over the tin and paste using a thin layer of glue.
Apply a coat of metallic silver acrylic paint on the paper.
Allow the paint to dry.
Apply a coat of black acrylic color on this. Let this be a thin coat. Allow the paint to dry.
Make shapes and structures using polymer clay or any other self hardening clay on the tin.
You can make designs on the clay if needed. Allow the clay to air dry for 45 minutes to an hour.
Once the clay is dry, paint another coat of black acrylic color.
Paint a couple of coats of metallic silver paint. Allow the coats to dry.
Conceal the paint using a top coat of clear varnish.
Allow the varnish to dry.
You can use this technique to make pen stands and vases depending on the base structure.
