Yesterday, we saw how to make daisies using paper cups. We will now make a mini flower basket using paper cups; fun and simple craft to make. These paper cup baskets can be done easily by kids and would be perfect for Easter.
Glimpse of the Paper Cup Basket:
For this you will need:
- A 3 oz. paper cup
- Color beads (Optional)
- Acrylic or Poster Colors
How To make Paper Cup Basket:
Draw a uniform circle with a pencil around the paper cup. This can be drawn probably one or two inches from the mouth of the cup.
Starting from the mouth of the cup make uniform slits reaching the circle drawn. The distance between each slit can be an inch. This however depends on the size of the cup chosen.
Bend the slits backwards and make a uniform crease.
Cut the top of each slip making a neat curvy design.
Repeat the above step for all the slits.
Paint the cup using acrylic colors. You can even use poster colors but acrylic colors add a shine and so I prefer that.
Allow it to dry and apply another coat.
If desired, you can make simple small patterns in the cup.
Once the paint is dry, make holes at two opposite points in the cup for attaching the handle.
Insert the metal string in the holes made and secure it to make the handle. You can insert beads or wrap the string with woolen thread to make it a little more neater.
Alternatively you can use pipe cleaner or chart paper to make the handle. Satin ribbons can be tied on the handle to give it a pretty look.
This is a simple craft which kids can make around the holidays. These baskets can also be tweaked a little bit to make Easter baskets or for holding a bunch of small flowers.
