Claude Monet is known for his Impressionist paintings and specially for his series of paintings of  water lilies in a pond and their reflections. The Water Lilies are a series of approximately 250 oil paintings in the impressionist style. These paintings were made with the pond at Monet’s flower garden at Giverny as the model. Claude Monet famously once said “Suddenly I had the revelation of how magical my pond is. I took up my palette. Since that time I have scarcely had any other model.”
